Legal Structure
The Auroville Foundation Act of the Parliament of India provides the legal framework for the development of Auroville in alignment with its Charter. Auroville Foundation is an autonomous body under India's Ministry of Education. It has a Governing Board, International Advisory Council, and Residents Assembly. There are more than 700 units grouped into various Trusts based on their area of activity under the Auroville Foundation.
